Bacterial Vaginosis
Effective diagnosis and treatment for bacterial vaginosis (BV).
What is BV?
Bacterial vaginosis is the most common vaginal infection in women of reproductive age. It occurs when the balance of bacteria in the vagina is disrupted. BV causes a thin, greyish-white discharge with a distinctive "fishy" odor, especially after sex.
Treatment
BV is treated with antibiotics — typically metronidazole (oral or vaginal gel) or clindamycin. Most cases resolve with a 5-7 day course. We also provide guidance on preventing recurrence, which is common.
